Toledo Ranked No. 1 in Sustainability Rankings

Site Selection magazine recently ranked the Toledo Metro first in the nation for its commitment to environmental, social and governance goals related to sustainability.

The recognition rates city and communities based on the number of LEED certified buildings, green industry projects, Energy Star buildings, brownfield grants and brownfield cleanups.

Toledo edged out cities like Cincinnati, OH and Grand Rapids, MI in part thanks to the work of companies like Owens Corning, First Solar, and Rudolph Libbe Group.

Among other programs and initiatives, the Lucas County Commissioners recently joined with partners on the Toledo-Lucas County Sustainability Commission to announce the launch of the online Toledo-Lucas County Green Map, designed to connect people to sustainable assets to improve their social, economic, and physical well-being.
