New Look, New Name: Glass City Center

Lucas county's convention center, the SeaGate Centre, has a new name: Glass City Center
The Lucas County Commissioners and ProMedica today announced the rebranding of SeaGate Centre to Glass City Center to focus attention and marketing efforts on the building's $60 million expansion and renovation.
"The need for major improvements and expansion of this 35-year-old facility has existed for some time. This ambitious project will make Toledo a top choice of planners for conventions, exhibitions, events and more,” said Gary L. Byers, President of the Board of Commissioners. “With other important and attractive developments such as the new Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites, we have created a more vibrant, exciting, attractive downtown area. This investment promises to bring over $800 million in economic activity in our community over the next 20 years and double our visitor attendance to 200,000 people annually.”
The new Glass City Center showcases Toledo’s history and reputation as “The Glass Capital of the World”. Located in the heart of downtown Toledo, this amazing expansion and renovation is transforming the building that bridges the Warehouse and Central Business districts. The new Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites adds 310 directly connected luxury rooms. The Renaissance Hotel just 2 blocks away features 250 first-class accommodations.

Some of what Glass City Center offers:

  • 75,000 sq. ft. hall for exhibits, competitions, major events
  • An elegant, 16,000 sq. ft. ballroom with 25-foot ceilings
  • Large pre-function area with amazing city views
  • Banquet seating for up to 1,000 in the Ballroom; 3,000 in the main hall
  • Terrace view overlooking Fifth Third Field, the home of the Toledo Mud Hens baseball club
The new 16,000 square foot ballroom will be completed in August and additional upgrades will continue through 2022.
