ProMedica and The University of Toledo Announce New Affiliation

ProMedica announces that it has been approved by The University of Toledo (UT) Board to sign a letter of intent to enter into a long-term Academic Affiliation Agreement with the university. 

The agreement will include a commitment by ProMedica to support the following programs at UT: College of Medicine and Life Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and College of Health Sciences.

The focus of the agreement is on academics and research. The goal is to create an academic medical center at ProMedica Toledo Hospital and Toledo Children’s Hospital that is among the best in the country. Additionally, other key benefits will include:

• Attracting and retaining a greater percentage of physicians and other medical specialists  
• Offering a broader range of educational and training opportunities for future physicians and medical professionals
• Increasing clinical training capacity that will be comparable to other major academic centers
• Creating new jobs and driving community revitalization, economic and business development opportunities 

The plan is for the vast majority of medical students, residents, fellows, and other health profession learners to be placed at ProMedica facilities.
